Torrance CA Centennial Website Design

2010

The Dogs designed a website for the city of Torrance in honor of its 100 year anniversary where the community can come share their memories to contribute to the centennial celebration. The site was made with Drupal, a content management system that makes it quick and simple for users to come upload their stories, photos and videos.

The representatives from the city of Torrance came to us with the desire to have a website design that glorified the centennial anniversary of the city.  They wanted the users to be able to interact with the website and submit content in order to create a "gallery of memories" of Torrance. A historical journal if you will.

Goals for Project Implementation

  • Design a website conveying the prestige of the Centennial celebration
  • Build a site that is easy to navigate and uses dynamic interactive graphics
  • Utilize a Graphic User Interface to allow website updates to be made without any technical knowledge
  • Utilize a user-friendly Content Management System (Drupal) to promote community activity on the website
  • Develop a website that is largely automated by community activity in order to minimize maintenance costs

Drupal offered all the necessary tools for custom tailoring a system that would allow the Centennial celebration website for the city of Torrance to be fully rendered with all of its interactive qualities.
