3 Steps to Better Conversion: Making Users into Buyers

How many people show up on your website? A couple hundred? A couple thousand? If you don't have a tracking system installed on your site, I'd really recommend getting one. Analytics systems, such as the free Google Analytics, are invaluable to improving ROI for you website.

Okay, so now you have an Analytics system... What now? You might have some traffic coming from the search engines, some traffic coming from referring sites (sites with links pointing to you), and you might even have some direct traffic. Great! If you're a little off balance, don't worry! There are different ranges that different types of companies want to be in.

However, generally all websites would like to have search engine traffic as their largest source of incoming traffic.

It's quite simple really, if you think about it that is.

Anyone who uses the web should know: people who search for something usually want what they're looking for, and quickly! Searchers don't usually wait until the second or third page for good results, they'll usually try a different term and search again if what they are looking for isn't on the front page. That's why it is so important to be ranked highly on search engines!

Just think, most people who enter a term into a search engine are looking for something. Be it a service or a product, if you have it, you want to do your best to be right at the top of that list so they will end up at your site!

But what then?

What happens when you have done all of the on-site Search Engine Optimization you can and maybe have tried some Pay Per Click? How do you increase the number of people Converting on your site from Users into Buyers?

3 Simple Steps to Better Website Conversion

1. Put a call to action on every page.

A searcher has made it to your site. They like your product and services. They want to make a purchase. Where is the next step for them to take? Is it obvious? No? Make sure that the call to action is convenient! That the ability for the user to make the next step in the purchasing process is almost intuitive. Don't make them think.

2. Offer multiple ways for users to find what they are looking for.

Maybe a user has made it to the product page, but they want to look up more details on the product. Lo' and behold, they don't see the link for "More Information" and instead they use your on site search bar to find out if their query matches up somewhere on the site. Fantastic! By having multiple ways for users to find information on your site, you'll allow them to find things more easily.

3. Appeal to their Eye Visually

A great website design is one step along the way of ensuring your users are confident in making a purchase of your services or products, but this is only the first step. It's important that information is organized on the page, many studies in the advertising industry show that people scan pages, they don't read them.  Make finding information easier to scan through the use of bullets, bold words, images, and organized headings. You'll consistently increase the percentage of users on your site turning into customers.

Whether your traffic is soaring from an effective Search Engine Optimization Campaign, or you are just looking for ways to better monetize your current traffic, Conversion Optimization is a key factor in the Website Design, Web Development, and SEO stages of a website.

Think about it.
